ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday asked the federal government to arrest the leader of Move on Pakistan, the party responsible for putting up pro-army banners in 13 cities across the country.
Talking to reporters, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senator said the government has not arrested any one for putting up the banners, which read, Janay ki baatain hui puraani, Khuda k liye ab ajao (Talks of leaving are now old; for God’s sake now come).
Aitzaz asked the federal government to arrest and handover the person(s) responsible to a parliamentary committee. “We will obtain rest of the information ourselves.”
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) had raised the banner’s issue, adding that Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar should take notice of the issue.
“ISPR says army has nothing to do with controversial posters. The banners have contact numbers displayed on them but, still no arrest has been made,” said Aitzaz.
Commenting on the remarks given by the PPP senator, veteran journalist Arif Nizami in his talk show said Aitzaz might have thought that it was being done to divert attention and create an environment of uncertainty.
