ISLAMABAD: United States have at last admitted that Pakistan’s fight against terrorists is against all groups including the Haqqani network and that the successes of Operation Zarb-e-azb were exemplary, defence sources told Daily Times.
Sources also said that the US senate and congress delegation raised some issues regarding war on terrorism during the meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. On this, the army chief suddenly invited them to visit Miran Shah, an area of North Wazirstan and see with their own eyes what the Pakistan Army had achieved.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), US Senate Arms Services committee Chairman John McCain, accompanied by a congressional delegation including senator Lindsey Graham and senator Joe Donnelly went to North Waziristan Agency on Sunday to visit the areas cleared of terrorists in the operation.
Having seen firsthand, that the erstwhile hideouts and communication infrastructure had been cleared of terrorists, the delegation was highly appreciative of army’s accomplishment of cleansing the entire area of North Waziristan right up to Pak-Afghan border.
The senators also commended the rehabilitation work being carried out by Pakistani forces to resettle the displaced people back in their home areas with dignity and honour.
Later the delegation also met with the wounded soldiers and officers who had been seriously affected during the initial phases of the operation and have now voluntarily rejoined the battlefield.
The visitors appreciated the determination and grit of all affected Pakistani soldiers and their unparalleled sacrifices for their motherland.
