MINGORA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while announcing development projects amounting to billions of rupees for Swat, took a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the projects were a gift from Punjab to Peshawar.
The prime minister, who was addressing a gathering in Mingora, said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were suffering for their ‘mistakes’ in the general elections of 2013. “If you had voted for the PML-N then the situation would’ve been different here.”
He said that the federal government would establish a technical training centre for the youth of Mingora. He also announced a university sub-campus for female students. Talking about the Saidu Sharif Airport, he said the airport would be made functional again. “The airport will be provided with state-of-the-art facilities.”
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the prime minister said, will prove to be a game changer for the region. “The CPEC project will connect Swat with the rest of the region. The people of Swat will benefit from the economic corridor project.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz inaugurated the newly constructed Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital. The 110 beds hospital had been completed at a cost of Rs 800 million.
The prime minister also inspected various sections of the hospital, and directed for laying a separate transmission line to ensure smooth power supply to the hospital.
